Guild Service Projects and Blocks of the Month

We will be having a couple of choices for our block of the month quilts.  For those that would like to make the appliqued ones the Be Warm block is our January block.  Below is our pieced block.  You can choose which you would prefer to make.

This is someone else's version.
We made new name tags with these circles.  We made yo-yos and then attached them to ribbon then slid the name tag on.

Claudia is heading up our service projects.  This is a quilt that is a sample of one made for the care center.  It is for people that have fidgety hands.  You sew on all sorts of textures and gadgets that someone could fidget with.    I have never seen one of these before but I can imagine that some people would really enjoy this.  Claudia has the directions or if anyone is interested I will see if I can get them for you.  Also the sub for Santa would like to get doll clothes made for the 18" dolls.  There are all sorts of patterns out there and even free ones on the internet.  They are fun to make and don't take loads of time.  Please support our service project.

Trish's Barbie Clothes

This past sewing night Trish brought a box of Barbie clothes that her mother had made.  This box was quite a treasure.  Her mother has passed away and so these clothes bring her lots of fond memories.  These were extreamly well made.  Actually I don't think I have ever seen such well made barbie clothes.

You are only seeing a small portion from this box.  I could not believe the work that went into these clothes.

This coat would not lay right for me to take a picture of the other side but let me say it was darling.

Square dance dresses are so fun.

Here was one of the piles from the box.  We couldn't believe how many were there.  Now this box was full of the unfinished ones.  They all need snaps and clasps or velcro.

There were several western vests.  The denim ones even had the western yolk.

I would call this a Love Boat Dress.  My soon to be daughter in law had no idea what a Love Boat dress was.  That sure dates me.

I remember kids in my high school wearing these types of jackets.

Trish also had patterns for clothes for Dean Doll and another doll that I had never heard about.  Those patterns were for more georgous doll clothes, more of the designer type.  I loved seeing all of these.  I think my girls would have really enjoyed the Barbie clothes fashion show too.

The Tuffet

The Tuffet class was taught in Panguitch at the Quilt Walk.  It is a very desirable project and was clear full.  It took a couple of days of class and home work time.  The Tuffets turned out beautiful.
I have seen the tuffet classes offered at a few quilt shops and heard that it is a good idea to take the class.
This is Barbara Ostler, and she gave us instruction at the July Fair on how to make this.  She said the finishing kit is essential to make the tuffet.  You may need to find a shop to get into a class, if you want to make it.

These are a few of her quilts

She has some nice quilts.  I like her work.

Sewing Night

Becky has gotten a new embroidery machine and has been putting it to good use.  She has been making these purses to sell in her shop.  They are so cute and useful.  Her shop is Cowboy Collectibles, here in Panguitch, if you are interested in them.

These three quilts are Rhea's.  She is getting twin grandchildren so she made these for them.

These kitty's are cute.  Her quilting is beautiful too.  She has a long arm.

Wool Bucket

This wool bucket is from the American Quilting Shop.  I love wool, as you know.  I really thought this was darling and deserved to be spot lighted.  My friend Sheree made one of these and it is beautiful too.

I really wish that I had looked at the pattern to see who the designer was.  If you are interested in the pattern contact the store.  I even thought that these blocks would be darling in a quilt.

If you are interested in the pattern I am sure that American Quilting could help you.  They are in Orem, Utah.  Their sight is http://american-quilting.com.  Amy's patterns are available at http://www.underthegardenmoon.com/store/.
