Fresh Pumpkin Ginger Bread

I made this Fresh Pumpkin Ginger Bread with my left over pumpkins from Halloween.  I had a huge jack-o-lantern that I sliced up and baked to add to my pumpkins.  Clean out your pumpkins inside and out.  Then bake them until they are tender.  I let them cool for about 20-30 minutes so that when I pureed them they would not make a mess.  Pumpkins can be stringy so make sure you puree them well. I had a variety of pumpkins that I mixed all the flesh together.  I am sure most kinds will be fine.

I used a recipe from allrecipes.com but changed it up a bit.  I live in high altitude and so I adjusted this recipe to fit where I live and what I had on hand.

  I also made this in large batches so that I could give it to neighbors and friends.  It really turned out great.

Pumpkin Ginger Bread

6 Cups Sugar

1/2 c. apple sauce

1 1/2 c. oil

8 eggs

5 1/3 c. fresh cooked pureed pumpkin flesh.

4 tsp. ginger

2 tsp. allspice

2 tsp. ground cinnamon

2 tsp. ground cloves

7 cups allpurpose flour

1 1/2 tsp baking soda

1 TBLS salt

1/2 tsp. baking powder

Preheat oven 350 degrees.  Oil and flour 4 bread pans.  Mix the first nine ingredients well then add the rest and mix.  Pour into your bread pans and bake for about an hour.  When the bread bounces back when touched or a tooth pick comes out clean when inserted into the center it is done.  It really is a fabulous bread.  I hope you try it. 

Mary's the Mystery Quilter

This month our Mystery Quilter is Mary.  These are a few of her quilts she brought to show us.

This is the back to show the quilting on the one below.

This is Meet Me In Paris pattern.  It is upside down but it still looks good.

The log cabin quilt is beautiful for this time of year.

This is a preprinted panel and Mary did the quilting.  She did a beautiful job.

This one is saying our hearts are at home.  It is a cute little quilt.  The runner below is a 3D quilt.  The pinwheels are demential.

I love the dresden.  It is so pretty.

This pattern is probably Turning Twenty.

I have to say that this quilt is so pretty.  Mary really did a great job.  She is so nice and we are glad she is part of our guild.

November's Guild Christmas Party

Well our Christmas party was a lot of fun.  We began with a great dinner.  Our pot luck dinners are always fabulous.  These ladies know how to cook.  

We had a "white elephant" exchange.  We brought a quilting or sewing item that we were done with and wrapped it up.  We then passed it around the room to a quilting poem.

At the end of the poem we all opened up our gifts.

Of course we had show and tell.  That is the best part.  Below is Jerilu with her skeleton pillow.

Helen made a scarf and also dresser scarfs for her grand kids.

This one is a pillow case.

Now this is Lyllians round robin.  She added extra blocks and boy did it turn out spectacular.

Claudia made some noels for Christmas and this beautiful table topper below.

Claudia's fractured flowers are so nice.

This is also Claudia's.  Beautiful.

Helen has been very productive.  She made minion hats for her great grandsons.

She is also making runners for gifts.

Crystal not only made this trip around the world but also the first quilt in this post.  She does fabulous work.

Last but not least is Cheri's quilt.  It is so happy and vibrant.  Wow.

Mr Bones

This is my pillow I just made.  I still have to quilt it and put the back on it.  It is a pattern by Better Homes and Gardens in their magazine.  It is called No Bones about It.  I didn't do the flying geese like the pattern but Jerilu did.  It is cute either way. It is a lot of fun to make. 

This one is Jerilu's.  He is almost ghostly.  I love it.

Corn Wagon Peeks

This wool pillow should get you in the mood for winter.  It is darling and simple wool appliqué.  The Corn Wagon had some new thing that caught my eye that I thought I would share.

Corn Wagon always has fun ideas of things to make.  This looks like a simple project and a great gift to make for your friends.

I love the wool crazy things.  Not only because it is made of wool but because you can all sorts of things that you love to the project.

This has to be one of Marianne Michaels hooked rugs.  She is always making amazing things.  I love her work.

I just love these pumpkins.  I have mine already cut out ready to make for next year.  You can just say that I am ahead.  Actually I cut them out before Halloween this year but life got in the way of getting all my projects done.

This is a hooked scarecrow.  So cute.

This was in the class room.  It looks like a fun project.
