The Ping Pong Ball Drop

The kids line up getting ready to run grab the balls that fall from the airplane.  Each ball in numbered.  There are prizes for the right numbered balls.  It is another fun activity for the kids.  Even if they don't get the money prizes they can get some candy for coming.  This is hard for the little kids to run to get the balls but really works better for the older kids.

Kevin Heaton is one of our fair committee.  He says when to go. The funny thing is, our airplane dropped the balls where they were having the horse fun day.  We can't have the kids running through the horse arena so they sent the older kids over there.  It was fun any way.

The Fish Grab

The fish grab is one of the most favorite and well attended events at our fair.  The kids come ready to get wet and the parents and grandparents bring the bags, buckets and coolers for the fish so they can take them home.  Really there are so many fish there is plenty to go around.  It is interesting though there are never any left.  We have come home with a cooler of fish before.  They make two pools with plastic and wood for the sides, to hold the water in.

The fair gets their fish from a hatchery or fish farm.  They fill up the two pools with fish for the kids to grab.

This company had to scoop out the fish for one of the pools and then opened the tank for the rest at the other pool.

Everyone waits for the signal to go.  The younger kids in one end and the other kids in the other.

All of these fish go home to be cooked up for dinner.

My son Wylee loves the fish grab.  He really gets into it.  He catches and tosses them to the people waiting with their coolers and bags.  

Sophie doesn't get in with the fish.  In fact she screams and tries to climb up me to get away from them. I just thought she looked cute by the pool.

This is where they dumped the rest of the fish in.  The two pools are only separated by one board.

What chances do kids really have to hold a fish?  I would say not many.  Really I would guess not many really go fishing.  It is so fun to see the kids grabbing the fish.  My friend says that they are all bruised and not good to eat but I quiet enjoyed the ones we ate.

My daughter Zoey did not catch the fish but held it after it died. 

I love this photo of Katie.  She is so cute with her pumpkin with her fish in it.  This is such a fun time.  We love it.

Seasons of Home Shop

I was in Midway Utah for their Swiss Days festival and went to this cute shop.  They had all sorts of fun stuff in the shop, from books to dishes to fabrics.  I love to look at fabric.  The quilts were great too.  They have a retreat coming up in October that sounded like fun too.  You may want to check them out at www.seasonsofhome.com.

This is a cute Christmas runner. 

One of my sisters loved this fabric and bought some.

The photo on this one isn't that great but I do think it is nice.  I would like to make a patriotic quilt.

I really like chickens.  This one looks doable.  It is cute.

I don't always love house quilts but I do like this one.  I am not sure why this one appeals to me but it does.

This black background is nice with the red.  It makes it look folkarty.

This looks like spider webs.

This is so cute with the fire flies and the children.  My sister got this kit.  I think if the outer blocks were fussy cut it would make it much cuter.

Monsters are so cute.  So instead of monsters under the bed they would be on the bed.

This is really a skirt.

I would never take this quilt camping.  It is too cute.  I really like this and the more masculine one.

These are wool pin cushions.  

Felted wool balls are great.

I have never seen granny square santas before.

This is a sampling of what they have on the first floor.  The upstairs is full of fabrics and quilts.  They also have great cross-stitch patterns and other stuff too that I didn't take pictures of.
