Rise and Shine

LaRetta has just finished this quilt top.  This is one of the first quilt kits she ever bought and she has finally finished it.  It is beautiful.  She had to go through great lengths to find the outer boarder but I think it was very worth the work.  I love this quilt.

LaRetta also finished another Metro Rings quilt.  She has done two or three of this pattern now and is great at it.  The colors are so pretty.

Just another Reminder...The Quilt Walk is almost here.  If you want to display your quilts bring them to the Panguitch High School Gym on June 7th.  It is a Tuesday.  Bring them between 9:00 and 5:00.

Zoey's First Quilt

Zoey is nine and she made this quilt all by herself.  I had made one to put a way for a baby, she saw it and said she wanted to make one.  Of course being a quilter I had supplies on hand and told her to choose her fabrics.
Zoey tied it and bound it on her own.  I do have to say the best part of the process for me was when I was controlling the foot peddle.  My machine doesn't have a stitch regulator so when she would try in the past it went too fast.  Anyway, as I was pressing the peddle Zoey would say, "Pause, Play, Pause, Play."  It was so funny and I loved it.  When she was binding it I would ask her when it would bunch up a bit, if she wanted my help to straighten it out.  She would say no and she liked it as it is.  It is all her work.

She is so proud of her quilt.  I am proud of her too.

Get Your Quilts Ready for Quilt Walk

I'm just reminding you that Quilt Walk is coming.  We want to display your quilts.  We will be hanging the quilts in Panguitch High School Tuesday, June 7th from 9:00-5:00.  If you would like to help out let me know.  We welcome all your quilts also.

Classes start Wednesday, June 8th and go through Saturday.  Don't forget our Chocolate fest, the Quilt Walk dinner and play, and all the activities in the park with our pioneer village.  If you plan on attending the retreat please register at quiltwalk.org

This quilt that is displayed is from the Corn Wagon, one of my favorite shops.

The sweater I want to make

This is the sweater I want to make.  I am a beginner when it comes to knitting.  I am starting with doll clothes because if I get discouraged I am less likely to put it away and not finish.  I bought this pattern online.  I could not read it before I bought it but knew that my friend could help me do it.  Well when I got it, it may as well have been in Spanish.  I read through it a few times trying to decipher it.  Well, my friend, LaVee is so wonderful.  She took the pattern and made it so that she would be able to explain it to me.  Isn't it beautiful.

I ordered some yarn and am planning to make this with her help.  I tell you, we have wonderful people here.  I am sure there are wonderful people around you too.  We live in a wonder world.

Half Square Triangles

Crystal and Keela talked to us about making half square triangles.  This block was made with half square triangles.   They had a paper for us that told all the sizes of squares to cut to make the size you want.  If you didn't get one I am sure there are some more.  This is the block that we are going to do for the exchange.  We are using a black background.  I am sure the rules will be in the newsletter.

Crystal and Keela are great teachers.

There are all sorts of blocks to make with the half square triangles.

Aprils Show and Tell

I love this quilt Bev made.  It was our round robin quilt from guild last year.  She out lined the blocks in purple and added a few filler blocks.  She really did a wonderful job on her quilt.  I love knowing I have a block from each of these ladies that I think so much of.  I just need to finish mine.  Look at the quilting on this quilt.  Each block is different.

I think this is Katherine's.  She got these blocks in an exchange and then added some of her own to make this quilt.  It is so nice.

Sandy made chalk boards for her grand children.  It has a pocket in the back for the eraser and chalk.

These are her blocks for the Block of the Month

She also made this cute bag.

Crystal has been busy.  She made this, I think it was called the Farmers Daughter.  It is cotton with wool appliqué.

My memory is not working today but this was a Pioneer quilt I think.  It is also Crystals.

This is the back of the quilt below.  Crystal just got it back from Connie.  Connie quilted it.

Cheri has been making pillows.  These are for the summer.  She does a wonderful job with the appliqué.

Gwen made this chevron quilt.  It was made with some strip piecing.

Keela's Christmas quilt is beautiful.

Kay has been busy.  I Love Love this quilt.

This is darling.  Look how cute the snail is.

Iris made this patriotic quilt.

Claudia is making this for a friend's baby.

Claudia made this one too.

Iris said this is a simple quilt to make.

Angeli finished a couple of the BOM blocks.

Claudia is showing us her block.
Show and tell is the best.

Block Of The Month and Batik Exchange

Rhea is showing us the blocks for April.  If you are in need of the pattern get a hold of her.  I think they were all gone at guild but I am sure she can help you out.

Aren't they turning out cute?

Now this was our playing with batiks.  We had a yard of batik.  We cut it in half.  Actually we clipped it with scissors and ripped it in half.  We dropped one half and passed the second half.  We repeated this several times and ended up with several colors of batiks.  It was fun.  Thank you to Gwen for sharing with me.  You may want to try it in your guilds out there.

Getting Stuff Done

At guild we are working on a goal each month.  Each of us has our own goals that we are working on.  Those that had projects they finished as a goal showed us what they accomplished.  Have you ever seen a Crown Royal quilt.  This one is a custom quilt made by Claudia.  It is made for a friend of her sons.  She put a load of work into this quilt and this friend put a lot of money into Crown Royal.  It is a nice quilt.  I hope he loves it.

This is the back of the Crown Royal quilt.  I hope you can see the stitching.

This is Angeli's quilt.  It is looking great.

These quilts are Kay's.  I can't quilt remember the story behind them, sorry.  They turned out so beautiful.

All of you ladies are really accomplishing a lot.  Not all of us are working on just our quilting.  Some of us are cleaning out or working on other goals, but we are getting things done.  Besides, our table of stuff we are sharing has been wonderful.  I have gotten some fun things and have been glad to pass on stuff I wanted to be finshed with.
